Our Native New Zealand Art

We all chose one of the Native New Zealand birds, or tuatara, that we have been learning about this term. Then we drew our animal with pencil and vivid and coloured in using pastels. Then we had to paint a habitat for the animal to live in and think carefully about where the bird or tuatara lives eg the morepork is nocturnal and lives up in the trees; tuatara live in sandy and rocky areas; the kiwi lives on the forest floor as it can't fly. Then we put our two pieces of art together. We hope you like them............

Native New Zealand

This term we are studying Native New Zealand. So far we have looked at the Kiwi, Morepork, Fantail and the Tuatara. Here are some examples of our work......

Netball

I had a lovely time down at Pinehurst School watching the girls (and boy) from Rooms 4 and 5 play netball. It's great to see them all giving it a go and even more important - having fun!

Zoo trip

The whole junior team had a great day out at the zoo. We spent time in the education centre where one of the educators spoke to us about New Zealand native birds - we learned lots of interesting facts! We are studying native New Zealand birds and animals as our inquiry topic this term.
